The Hill Country Galleria location of Austin’s premier day spa seeks harmony with its surroundings while creating the feel of a unique destination. Thoughtful use of material and texture reinforce this harmony and further resonate a layered articulation of space specifically designed to ease guests from the outside world through a series of softly lit hallways to relaxation in the luxurious lounge that awaits.
Inspired by modern Japanese architecture and old-fashioned “sweatboxes” the Lounge is clad in horizontal tongue and groove white oak. Long benches and dispersed recessed lighting reference the original hammams of Turkey.
A minimal palette of white oak, steel and concrete with touches of white was used throughout the space. Close attention to lighting was key to creating the overall ambiance. Walls are sun-washed throughout the day from custom skylights.
